Atherton, CA-With the regular season officially in the rearview mirror, Menlo Women's Tennis is primed to make a strong run in the GSAC Tournament. This is also a great time to look back on an extremely successful regular season for the first year program.
The Oaks currently are ranked 22nd in the nation in large part to the six match win streak they ended the season on. Menlo is home to a pair of top 50 singles players according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Valentina Urelli Rinaldi and Franziska Niederle are ranked 23rd and 35th respectively and have both been critical in leading the Oaks on and off the court. Rinaldi has been dominant recently winning her last two singles and doubles matches.
As for doubles rankings Rinaldi and her partner Milana Hrudka have also been a highly touted duo for the Oaks. They are currently ranked 14th in the nation and are the highest ranked GSAC doubles pairing in the nation. Lastly, Anthea Weiland and Hrudka have also secured top 20 rankings for the western region. Weiland is currently 17th in the west but has been battling a shoulder injury the past few weeks. Hrudka has come along strong as the season winds down and is now 19th in the west as well.
In a season with plenty of high points, Menlo establishing itself on the national stage in their first year is a great sign. With a combination of highly ranked singles and doubles players it is time for the postseason and for the Oaks to keep the momentum going!
